A "long time" is kind of subjective, So we'll be more specific.
STUART TINLEY LAW FIRM, L.L.P.
In 1861, Lewis W. Ross moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, and began the law practice that would eventually become Stuart, Tinley, Peters, Thorn, Hughes, Faust & Madsen. Lewis W. Ross helped shape the Iowa legal community through his service as Regent of the University of Iowa, Resident Professor and Chancellor of the University of Iowa, and as a member of the Judiciary Committee as State Senator in the 10th and 11th General Assemblies.
In 1888, Dillon Lewis Ross, graduated from the University of Iowa Law School and joined his father, Lewis, in the practice of law under the firm name Ross & Ross. At the time, the firm specialized in equity and real-estate law.
In 1909, the Ross firm added to its name, Everest, Geiser, and Johnson. In 1928, Emmet Tinley, I, and the Mitchel brothers joined with Dillon Ross, as the firm Tinley, Mitchell, Ross & Mitchell. In 1946 Robert Stuart's name was added to the firm. Mr. Stuart remained active with the firm until his passing in 1986. In 1958, the firm increased the status of Emmet Tinley, II, and the Tinley name was re-added. Mr. Tinley recently passed away in the Spring of 2002. In 1961, Jack Peters' name was added. The firm enjoyed the many contributions of Mr. Peters until his passing in 1993.
While the firm continues to practice in equity and real-estate matters, it has grown and diversified into a full service law office. Today, our hard working lawyers maintain the same loyal commitment to their clients as in 1861, but employ the latest technology to obtain cost-effective results in today's complex legal matters.
